Uchechi Arinze was born to a Nigerian father and a Guyanese mother. Her mum owns AUDARI, a fashion design house where she developed a passion for fashion. Uchechi has worked Backstage with Costumes at the Fela Show & Arise magazine Fashion Week 2011. She has also worked with Mai Atafo Inspired's design team, which involved styling, assisting in the design, and working on various collections for different fashion shows.

The Nigerian eponymous womenswear brand presented its “Portrait of a Lady” collection lookbook at the 2015 Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week.
In this collection, a rep says that the creative director “explores the multifaceted Chechi Arinze woman and the different stages she goes through on her journey to finding her place in the world.”
Portrait of Lady collection features streamlined and voluminous silhouettes. Stretch satin, sheer organza, and chiffon are used for draping, and some final products have lace appliques.
