Kelechi Odu

About

Kelechi Odu is a fashion designer, architect, and film producer. His clothing line – the Kelechi Odu Collection – focuses primarily on menswear. He practices architecture in the firm of AxisDIA. Mr. Odu is Head of Production Design at The Audrey Silva Company, where he facilitates the creation of the worlds envisioned by the director on film and television. Through his ongoing collaboration with the Bloom gallery, he seeks to enhance art through the spatial design of the gallery’s booth at the ARTX fair each year. He started a design cooperative called the Oparanze Collective, which connects young men interested in craftwork, carpentry, metalwork, and leatherwork, to masters in those fields in a sort of apprenticeship.

His menswear is designed and made in Nigeria, with most of the fabric sourced locally from vintage stock, resulting in limited-run pieces and more environmentally sustainable practices, and keen on reimagining normative ideas about gender and culture through his designs.
